This section should be considered as a springboard to explore the works of other contemporary psychedelic artists.

I’ll begin with Alex Grey as I discovered his work during the mid-nineties and instantly recognised the visionary territories that he was painting. The image above is called Godself (2012). I’ve included it here as I hope that you’ll agree, that there is a harmonic resonance between this image and the image of The Psychehedron. I have great respect for Alex’s work and consider him a modern pioneer of inner exploration. I would encourage you, to think about some of the visual motifs and aesthetic common grounds between all of the artists mentioned in this section. All of the following people and Alex are inner explorers/ psychonauts, often using traditional shamanic sacrements in order to propel their visions. In this respect, these artistic explorers should be considered modern day shamans. They make choices that many wouldn’t dare to take, they venture into bewildering other dimensions of mind, then return to report their findings using their skills as artists. If there actually is a spiritual dimension, these people are the envoys who return to report back to the tribe of humanity what’s happening on the other side.

Hakan Hisim is a Turkish visionary artist who’s works I was happy to discover in 2012. To my mind, what Alex Grey can do with paint, Hakan can do with software. Hakan’s understanding of geometry and his artistic abilities to faithfully capture the essential nature of visionary states of consciousness, make him an invaluable contributor to the modern psychedelic art community.

I understand that he has an interest in furthering his creative expression using virtual reality in order to make his works more immersive. With such a captivating portfolio of 2D imagery from hyperspace, I eagerly await the fruits from whatever he manages to create using VR tools.

UON Visuals

The closest thing I could find to a bio for Vancouver-based artist UON Visuals was this: “Using the latest technology to recreate geometric imagery from psychedelic experiences.”

However, UON is up there with the cream of the psychedelic artists and recognised globally for his vivid and authenitc renditions of the kinds of animations the mind can generate under certain bespoke conditions.

Ben Ridgeway‘s visionary art quest kicked off during his college years.  Since then, he has built a career and formidable body of work illustrating his experiences of the inner dimensions whilst maintaining a distinctive personal art-style making his work instantly recognisable. In Ben’s own words “I am an innerspace excavator. My goal is to dig deep into the inner spatial worlds and ideas we engage with in our minds and bring them into physical form. Where words fall short, visual language, sound, and all of the senses can be used to communicate worlds of abstraction in a universally understandable manner.”

Symmetric Vision deserves a special mention for dedicating his creative path to depicting various altered states of consciousness from pre-visionary to full-blown breakthrough experiences. His depictions are highly authentic and a credit to his wizard-like skills in Cinema 4D and Adobe Premiere.
